Soccer The War Game! -Looking Back To Its Origin
...Believe it or not, but the modern day soccer owes its origin to the barbarous war mongering nature of human beings.
There is no proper documentation that can state the date and place of origination of the most popular modern day sportSoccer. However, depending on the socio-historical facts and data we can assume that some type of a ball game was played somewhere in this planet for at least over 3000years now.
The earliest evidence of soccer was found in Kyoto, Japan where a field marked to play a ball-kicking game was found.
There is also proper documentation that supports the fact that the Chinese military forces around 2nd and 3rd century BC (Han Dynasty) played a game that involved kicking a ball into a small net. This was then an essential skill building exercise for the armed forces.
Historical evidence also shows that some form of Soccer was played also by the Greeks and the Romans, however, the primitive form involved a larger team on each side. At times the team strength would go up even to around 27 people on each side. The Continuing Demise of Aston Villa Fc - Defeat at Doncaster
...I feel compelled to write something regarding a football club which I have supported, albeit mainly from a distance, since I was a boy. The last disgraceful episode in the history of Aston Villa Fc was the 3-0 defeat at Doncaster in the league cup. I can take nothing away from Doncaster, who played like lions on the night. They were full of running and pressurised us from the word go. However the point here is that a team of Aston Villa's obvious size, standing and sometimes glorious past should have been far too much for even the bravest of lower division teams. This was not a one off; sadly it was indicative of the general malaise which seems to have set in at the club over the last two years.
Here is a good example. Our 9million pound club record signing, Juan Pablo Angel strolled round the park (when he did actually move) looking like he did not want to be there. For the most part he loped towards the opposition penalty area when we got forward and then stood around waiting for something to happen. I am no expert in the art of striking, but from many hours watching some of the best strikers in the world even I can tell that a good striker will make something happen, not wait for it to fall into his lap. The fact that he has only managed to score this season against lowly Wickham Wanderers, in an earlier round of the cup, I think says it all.

Mike Holmgren owes Bill Cowher and NFL Fans an Apology
...back door, he also didn't return to his teams host city and bad mouth the officiating. He did give a losing coaches interview in the locker room and was seen embracing his tear-soaked family, obviously broken hearted by the loss. Coach Cowher has given his respect, he has given his props, he has played by the rules, and yet, even though he is the longest tenured coach in the NFL, everyone in the media, on sportscenter, even the NFL itself refuses to admit that Holmgren snubbed Cowher because he was angry. I wonder if this story would have been bigger had it been Bill Belichick that got shafted?
Don't get me wrong, I didn't have any axe to grind with Mike Holmgren, not until he pulled this nonsense. I've always thought he was a stand up guy, I even pulled for him and his Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers in 97'. You see Mike has been around the block a few times. He's not some 35 year old hot-head who's never seen the inside of the Super Bowl. The man has been there twice not including this last appearance, walking away with one trophy and one heartache. For him to be such a veteran coach with so much big game experience makes this insult and lack of respect from him even harder to swallow.
